Stop World - it is time for a nap.

A friend recent told me about Dr. Lissa Rankin's book "Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself".  I won't go into all the details of the book, but suggest everyone read it.  You can't poo poo her findings or take from them what helps you.

What I learned the most - or should I say - what was brought clearer in to my mind was how stress effects our lives.  Gone are the days where we have to plan ahead just to go into town to buy groceries, because we had to either walk or take the buggy.  Probably take a horse drawn buggy since you had to bring the groceries home.  So off you want at the gait set by the horse and you got there when you got there.  No honking horns, flipping off the driver next to you, traffic jams or texting and driving.  And if you came upon a drunk driver, more than likely the horse was still plodding along or had stopped for lunch.  Today we wake up as late as possible to get in the shower, get dressed, feed the dogs and/or kids and rush out the door, sliding into you parking spot at work one minute to starting time  --- the whole time praying you hit every red light, miss all the school buses or there isn't an accident.  The whole time you're rushing around, your body is in flight mode because you've amped it up with the fear you're going to be late - again.

In other words: Stress.

The old saying, Stop and smell the Roses, has lost its meaning in the fast paced, texting, internet and instant food world we live in -- fueled by stress.  And stress is killing us.

So world - let us all take a nap and de-stress.
